“A waterfall is a drop in water in a river from a ledge crossing a river bed. Unlike river rapids, a sharp drop in the height of the river bottom and a sheer drop are characteristic of waterfalls”
Other sources say in the same vein “to find out what a waterfall is, study what a river is”, although in most cases everything is, in my opinion, just the opposite: “to find out what a river is, you need to know what a waterfall is “. Continue reading
Types of food ponds. The type of water supply is one of the main indicators characterizing the features of the design and functioning of the reservoir. Four main types of water supply are common: surface runoff, groundwater, forced filling of reservoirs-digging from a guaranteed source of water supply and a combined diet.
Surface runoff is the main type of water supply of all dam reservoirs. The difference lies only in the ratio of the volumes of the basin of the reservoir and the volumes of the flow. With a significant excess of flow volumes, it is possible to create a cascade of reservoirs located on the same watercourse. Continue reading
Depending on the location on the relief, in the riverbed, floodplain all water bodies are divided:
• on reservoirs on the relief (basically, these are reservoirs-digging), which, in accordance with the structure of the relief, can be channel, floodplain, slope and watershed. If we consider a section of the relief along the slope from the watershed to the river bed and the stream, we can distinguish its elements such as the watershed, the slope with terraces above the floodplain, the floodplain of a river or stream and the channel;
• reservoirs in river beds, which, in turn, are subdivided into channel channels and dams. Continue reading
