Construction of artificial ponds
Construction of artificial ponds An artificial pond in the garden or at the dacha can serve as a landscape decorative element as well as for practical purposes, for example, used for breeding fish, watering plants, and in some cases even for swimming. A pond in the garden will look very organic, and if nature has not created a natural reservoir on your site, then you can start building artificial ponds.
The ponds on the site can create a regular geometric shape, and then they must be elevated above the level of the soil, or natural, with free outlines. Before starting the construction of the pond you need to find a suitable place for it. It is best to build it on a plot with turf, next to which small trees and shrubs will grow. Do not dig a pond right under the trees, because in the fall the falling leaves will fall directly on the water, litter it and contribute to its decay. But you need to take into account the fact that the garden pond from all sides should have free access so that you can make a path or path near it. The site on which the pond will be located should be fully illuminated by the sun in the summertime until 11 am, and from 11 da 15 hours it should be half-shade. This is necessary so that the water does not get very warm and does not turn green from the rapid growth of algae in warm and stagnant water.
For construction, you need to dig a pit of the shape you chose, then cover the bottom of the pit with sand and lay it over the sand with a waterproof film. The depth of the pond should be such that it does not freeze through in its entire depth in the winter, at least one and a half meters. Fix the edges of the film along the coastline with stones of various sizes and shapes, cover with gravel or river pebbles. Ready pond need to plant ornamental plants. They are usually planted in baskets, which then need to be installed on the bottom of a reservoir or in a special planting fabric. It is also advisable to plant water lilies, lilies and nuggets in the pond, because they have broad leaves that freely float on the surface of the water and actively generate the necessary oxygen for the pond. It is also advisable to install additional artificial lighting and a pump in your pond in order to create a circulation of water. For decorative purposes, the pond can be populated with fish. The most optimal sizes for an artificial pond are the following – the depth of the pond is from 1 m, the total area is from 3.5-4 square meters. m and above.
If an artificial pond is of high quality, properly planted with plants and correctly populated with fish, equipped with devices for cleaning, it, as a rule, does not require special care.
