Benevskie or Elomovskie waterfalls in the Primorsky Territory of Russia
The beginning of these famous picturesque water cascades of the Primorsky Territory are taken from the Przhevalsky ridge, which is located between the two mountain rivers Partizanskaya and Kievka.
One of the names of these waterfalls – Benevskie comes from the name of the village (Benevskoe), which is located not far from this corner of nature.
The second name, Elomovskiye waterfalls, was received from the Elomovsky spring, which is used to feed water. The Elomovsky spring itself is formed from two sources, located on the highest peaks of the Przhevalsky mountains – Lysa and Belaya.
So, cutting a narrow valley in a stone plateau, the spring forms a system of waterfalls representing a unique natural object of regional significance and which has been specially protected since April 12, 1985.
Noisy streams flow through the canyon and, suddenly rolling down from stone protrusions and steps, form cascades, drains and rapids of different heights, the number of which varies from 27 to 29.
The route to the waterfalls begins near the village of Benevskoye (4 km), the hiking path (takes about 2 hours) runs along the ecological path along the key Elomovsky to the foot of Lysaya Mountain. The trail is unpaved, runs through a wooded area, in some places you will have to overcome fords on stones and logs. On the way, there are very picturesque places, when the key runs, tumbles over scattered mossy small stones and large boulders. And the higher you go, the more the terrain changes – coniferous trees appear and more and more of the exposed rock walls.

And here ahead the first waterfall – “Star of Primorye”. A real handsome 24 m tall, the highest and most impressive of the cascade of waterfalls. Its water streams, falling from a sheer rock wall, fall down with a stunning crash onto stone growths and, breaking on them, create a water extravaganza. This waterfall is the most popular among tourists, around it everyone is sure to try to capture themselves.
If you climb about 30 meters on a rather steep cliff, you can admire this waterfall from above – no less spectacular and fascinating sight.
The second waterfall called “Far” is about 100 m from the first, its height is 13 m. It is somewhat similar to the first waterfall, and the flow is just as powerful, but still inferior in beauty to the first one.
Further, even higher – the third waterfall, the widest, is also very beautiful. Its waters flow in several streams from an 8-meter height and crash into boulders.
After the third waterfall, small waterfalls, drains and rapids, among which there are also fancy and wonderful patterns, such as, for example, in the form of a washboard, continue the rather long path. And two small waterfalls form water bowls in which you can swim.

And then a fourth waterfall appears, also wide and pretty, 5-6 m high.
On the way to the waterfalls come across interesting rocky slopes, which are stone pillars and “pencils”.
Then the river forks, and then you will not meet high and large waterfalls. But continues the abundance of ledges and vodovkatov, and the slopes of the stone are becoming steeper. Fallen trees block the way, forming windbreaks.
The most seasoned will be able to go even further, where you can see the source of the key Elomovsky and climb the Lysaya mountain, in which the spring goes into the slope of the ground.
During the year, depending on the water level and the season, the shape of the waterfalls changes, they may not be as powerful. But still this corner of nature is incredibly beautiful at any time of the year. Even in winter, when waterfalls freeze and turn into ice walls along which the key flows, forming frost – it is magnificent.
