Fish ponds

An artificial reservoir designed for breeding fish must comply with very many standards necessary for its normal functioning, and accordingly, for the sustenance of fish, their growth and reproduction. An artificial fish pond, if it is located on the territory of private property, performs not only an economic function, but also an aesthetic one, and must fit into the surrounding landscape. It is better to have it close to the house, in the recreation area, in the garden, but you need to make sure that the place is not too shaded.
It is better to make the outlines of the pond rounded, and in choosing a form you can show all your imagination.
The cheapest option would be an artificial reservoir of clay and film. But it can quickly be damaged and become useless, therefore it is better to choose a concrete reservoir. It is much more reliable, does not require special care and well hold water.
In order for such an artificial reservoir to perform its functions one hundred percent, the work of specialists is desirable, starting with planning, designing and ending with the building itself. The construction of ponds does not have big restrictions, but ponds for fish require a special approach.
The construction of fish ponds has the following features:
the bottom of the pond should be leveled, since uneven areas can cause waterlogging;
vegetation growing on the shore, especially different snags and stumps, must be uprooted flush with the bottom, otherwise it will impede fishing and cause overgrowing and siltation of the pond;
if there are other sources of water nearby, they must be cleared for better water flow;
It is advisable to make the pond a drain – this is how fish catch is made easier.
Ponds for fish are of several types: ravine, forest and park, ponds, reservoirs and peat ponds career.
The most popular type are gully ponds. As the name implies, they are equipped in small ravines and ravines. They are small in size, not very deep and are used for household purposes – for washing, water supply, watering gardens. The water in these ponds is low-flowing or leaky, well heated by the sun. Vegetation is well developed there, and the bottom is usually silty.
Such ponds are suitable for breeding carp, as well as carp and pike perch.
Forest and park ponds are almost always very silted and need cutting down of coastal vegetation. They need to be drained for a couple of years before they start running fish there.
Ponds-reservoirs are designed for irrigation of fields and have a large area.
In them you can breed carp, bream, pikeperch, trout, carp and other fish. There is usually found carp, pike and other not very valuable fish. Fishing is very difficult due to the large number of stumps and snags. But if you clean the bottom of krugag and stumps and organize the flow of high-quality water, you can establish a fisheries, which will bring a good income.
Peat ponds-career are obtained at the site of peat development after peat production.
Fish can only live in enough clean water for them, saturated with oxygen, organic matter and minerals, and also need a multi-level reservoir, and therefore it is better to entrust the construction of fish ponds to those who know a lot about it.
An artificial fish pond should have more than one level, because there must be both deep-sea areas and areas where the water will warm up well. It should also be borne in mind that fish need vegetation, which will contribute to saturation of water with oxygen and close the surface of the water from the scorching sunlight.
This direction of ponds is one of the most interesting and promising. Ponds should have a sufficiently effective filtration and water purification system. When creating ponds should take into account such moments as access to inspection and observation of fish, the safety of both their own and the safety of the fish themselves from attack and eating by animals and birds.
It should also be remembered that the remains of fish food are a very good nutrient medium for rapid growth and reproduction of algae, which are parasitic in the pond. A large number of algae affects the quality of water and the operation of filter elements, as well as the frequency of water quality control and maintenance of filter systems.
An artificial fish pond, its size and characteristics largely depend on the size of the fish and its quantity.
