With the passage of time, artificial reservoirs that are created in the garden, in the summer cottage, are increasingly gaining popularity, since a natural reservoir of this kind is rare. Glitter, gurgling water helps to relax and rest from the hustle and bustle. And then it is not so important what type of reservoir you choose – a decorative garden pond, an artificial pond for fish farming or a pond for swimming – in any case, an artificial pond becomes the main element of the garden landscape. We make the coastline: pick up a few dozen stones of the same size and shape and lay them along the edge of the reservoir, like a string of beads … Or, let’s say, uniformly plant it on all sides with plants of the same type or at least one height …
Another mistake that kills any hint of naturalness.
The sides, the sides again … almost half of our dacha reservoirs are somehow surrounded by the sides. If they are not poured out of the ground, they are certainly laid out of stones. Well, or at least formed from plants. We are like “locking” the water like a dangerous beast. No need to lock her up, she won’t run away! Make the coastline free and open! Continue reading
The first stage in the construction of any decorative pond – marking outlines and digging the pit. Of course, if we plan a reservoir in a landscape style, it is desirable that its outlines be wrong, unconstrained. It is best to define the boundaries in advance.
And now we take a shovel and dig a pit with steep walls, uniform over the entire area.
This is the first and very important mistake of many. The final result at best will resemble a bath or a pool, but not a natural pond. Remember the natural reservoirs (after all, we take them as a sample): it is very rare to find a lake in nature with sheer cliffs on all sides (except for mountain lakes, but they also require an appropriate environment). As a rule, in natural water bodies with stagnant water, the depth increases gradually from shallow water. Continue reading
